THE tics and twitches of patients at Mount Carmel Hospital will be spotlighted tomorrow night when “Awakenings,” the film based on the book by Dr. Oliver Sacks, vies for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. As most movie trivia collectors by now know, Mount Carmel is the name the neurologist author gave to the Bronx hospital where, in the late 1960’s, he administered the experimental drug L-Dopa to patients with postencephalitic syndrome, a form of Parkinson’s disease.
